Fondazione Umberto Veronesi was established in 2003 on the initiative of Professor Umberto Veronesi, with the aim of funding medical and scientific research for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. To address the ongoing challenges in medicine, the Foundation selects the most promising researchers and supports innovative projects that ensure the swift translation of research results into clinical practice. In addition, the Foundation promotes prevention campaigns and educational initiatives focused on health and healthy lifestyle habits.

Another area in which this commitment is particularly urgent is women’s cancers: in Italy, every year more than 53,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, while over 11,000 new cases of uterine cancer and more than 5,400 cases of ovarian cancer are recorded. Thanks to advances in research, today the 5‑year survival rate after diagnosis is 88%, and if detected in its early stages, it exceeds 90%. Much progress has been made, but it is not enough. Fondazione Veronesi’s goal is to find solutions for patients who do not respond to current treatments—and achieving this requires everyone’s support.
